Tarozzi Giuseppe

Abstract

Formatosi alla fine dell’Ottocento, nella Padova del positivista R. Ardigò e dello spiritualista F. Bonatelli, Giuseppe Tarozzi fu per molti decenni professore di filosofia all’Università di Bologna, partecipando alle discussioni dei rapporti tra scienze matematico-naturali e filosofia che si svolgevano intensamente in quell’università nei primi decenni del secolo. Nel suo lungo tragitto filosofico Tarozzi passò da un’impostazione di tipo positivistico, senza però mai riduzionismi materialistico-deterministi, a uno spiritualismo fondato in modo teistico-trascendente, prospettiva particolarmente presente nella tarda opera L’infinito e il divino.

Educated at the end of the nineteenth century in Padua under the positivist R. Ardigò and the spiritualist F. Bonatelli, Giuseppe Tarozzi was for many decades a professor of philosophy at the University of Bologna, participating in the discussions on the relationships between mathematical-natural sciences and philosophy that were intensely held at that university in the early decades of the century. Throughout his long philosophical journey, Tarozzi moved from a positivistic approach, without ever succumbing to materialistic-deterministic reductionism, to a spiritualism grounded in a theistic-transcendent perspective, particularly present in his later work 'The Infinite and the Divine.'
