Abstract

Già durante gli anni degli studi universitari, condotti a Roma con G. Gentile, e poi per tutta la vita, Andrea Emo tenne dei quaderni privati dove annotò le proprie riflessioni filosofiche. La pubblicazione postuma di tali quaderni ha richiamato un notevole interesse. Partendo dalla filosofia-teologia dialettica di Hegel per come era stata riformulata da Gentile, Emo sviluppa incessantemente la questione del negativo: «Poiché l’attualità non è che negarsi» essa «non può affermarsi, non può essere che trascendenza. La trascendenza del negarsi», egli scrive. All’interno di questa impostazione filosofico-teologica incentrata sul negativo, Emo sviluppa la propria interpretazione del Cristo evangelico: «l’annuncio: Dio è morto, non soltanto è contenuto nei Vangeli, non soltanto è l’essenza dei Vangeli, ma è l’Evangelo stesso: è la buona notizia. La morte di Dio, cioè il negarsi dell’assoluto, che si individua negandosi».

Already during the years of his university studies, conducted in Rome with G. Gentile, and then throughout his life, Andrea Emo kept private notebooks where he noted his philosophical reflections. The posthumous publication of these notebooks has attracted considerable interest. Starting from the dialectical philosophy-theology of Hegel as reformulated by Gentile, Emo incessantly develops the question of the negative: “Since actuality is nothing but negation,” it “cannot affirm itself, it can only be transcendence. The transcendence of negation,” he writes. Within the framework of this philosophical-theological setting centered on the negative, Emo develops his own interpretation of the evangelical Christ: “The announcement: God is dead, is not only contained in the Gospels, it is not only the essence of the Gospels, but it is the Gospel itself: it is the good news. The death of God, that is, the negation of the absolute, which identifies itself by negating itself.”
