Call for papers on Innovation and Entrepreneurial Small Firms in the Tourism Sector

The Journal Piccola Impresa/Small Business is pleased to announce a new call for papers dedicated to the tourism sector. A sector populated by numerous micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and which represents a pillar of economic development for many countries. The special issue intends to delve deeper into the issues that connect tourism with entrepreneurial processes and with innovation, conceived not only as technological, but also as a phenomenon with many other facets at a strategic, organizational and market level.

CALL FOR PAPERS DEADLINE EXTENTION to 31 August 2023 Special Issue "Connecting Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects with value creation in small and medium-sized enterprises"

 The urgency of tackling climate change and the significant environmental, social and economic problems connected to them requires small and medium-sized enterprises to rethink traditional business models and to be keen on new approaches to business management and reporting, adopitng a CSR approach.  Based on the above, we invite contributions that offer theoretical reflections on SMEs’ commitment toward sustainability and/or practical solutions to overcome SMEs’ barriers in adopting and reporting CSR. Contributions that focus on the intersection of sustainability, circular economy, value creation, and decision making are highly welcome. Submissions are welcome from a wide range of theoretical, methodological, and empirical approaches. Possible themes include (but are not limited to):

  • Voluntary or mandatory reporting on social and environmental issues for SMEs
  • Integrated reporting, CSR reporting and SDGs reporting for SMEs
  • Organizational changes and information systems transformation to support sustainable strategies and ESG performance measurement
  • Climate change challenges for SMEs
  • Small and medium-sized benefit corporations
  • Education for sustainability
  • Sustainable business models in SMEs
  • Circular economy practices in SMEs
  • Sustainable entrepreneurship
  • Sustainable finance for SMEs/financing the green transition
  • Assessing sustainability risks and bank lending toward SMEs

6th workshop PISB 19-20 may 2023 New Perspectives and Interdisciplinary Approaches to Entrepreneurship

The purpose of this call for papers is to promote research on the variety of contexts, their complexity and how they shape entrepreneurship. We encourage scholars to submit contributions that advance our understanding of the many facets of entrepreneurship within a plurality of contexts (e.g. women entrepreneurs in the cultural industry, digital entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship, benefit entrepreneurs and sustainable entrepreneurship, etc.). This call aims also to gather contributions from scholars who deal with entrepreneurship by adopting innovative and original methodological approaches and theoretical frameworks that look outside the box, both from traditional disciplines including management, economics, organization studies, law, and finance and other disciplinary fields such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, history, etc. To this end, contributions with an interdisciplinary approach are particularly appreciated. Both quantitative and qualitative methods in empirical research, as well as conceptual papers and literature reviews are welcome. 4th PISB Conference "Beyond the crisis: what is the future for small businesses? Challenges, opportunities and lessons learned”

Piccola Impresa/Small Business invites scholars to submit their original papers to the 4th PISB Conference, titled  “Beyond the crisis: what is the future for small businesses? Challenges, opportunities and lessons learned”. The Conference  will be held virtually  in Urbino (IT) next 3-4 December 2021. Thanks to the conference we would like to advance our understanding of how SMEs are preparing to tackle and overcome the current pandemic crisis and how they can effectively address, enhance and exploit policy measures at the local, national and European level (i.e. NextGenerationEU, The UK Government’s COVID-19 Recovery Strategy) in order to move successfully towards this completely renewed and challenging scenario.
