Abstract

La capacità di attrarre fondi e internazionalizzarsi istantaneamente sono tra le principali sfide per le PMI e questo è ancora più evidente per le International New Ventures (INV) a causa delle cosiddette liabilities. In letteratura il principale meccanismo attraverso cui le INVs cercano di affrontare la mancanza di risorse è l'uso delle reti. Questo studio esplorativo contribuisce alla letteratura sulla teoria delle reti interpretando e indagando il processo di internazionalizzazione in due fasi (esplorazione e sfruttamento), dal punto di vista degli imprenditori delle INVs; e colma una lacuna nella letteratura sulla scarsità di studi sugli strumenti di finanziamento europei come risorse per l'internazionalizzazione. I risultati mostrano che le INVs utilizzano reti personali durante l'esplorazione, reti aziendali nello sfruttamento e finanziamenti europei attraverso reti personali e grazie alle conoscenze acquisite nel mondo accademico, in entrambe le fasi per contrastare la liabiliy of foreigness, smallness e newness.
