Abstract
Scopo. Questo paper integra la Resource-Based View (RBV) e la teoria istituzionale per mettere in luce alcuni fattori determinanti della crescita di una particolare categoria di giovani imprese ad elevata crescita: le cooperative sociali ad alta crescita (gazzelle).
Progetto/metodologia/approccio. Attraverso un’analisi di regressione di tipo panel eseguita su un dataset longitudinale di 85 cooperative sociali gazzelle nate in Italia nel 2014, questo studio analizza la relazione tra il fatturato annuo di queste imprese nel periodo compreso tra il 2014 e il 2019 e alcune variabili ritenute esplicative della crescita di queste imprese (dimensione, liquidità, redditività netta, produttività del lavoro, indebitamento e capitalizzazione).
Risultati. I risultati mostrano che le gazzelle cooperative sociali fanno leva principalmente sul debito per finanziare gli investimenti. La capitalizzazione è un altro fattore chiave della crescita di queste aziende. Inoltre, le aziende più grandi con dipendenti altamente qualificati e ben pagati, hanno una maggiore crescita del fatturato perché possono soddisfare meglio le esigenze dei clienti. Si evidenzia, infine, anche una relazione positiva e statisticamente significativa tra la crescita del fatturato e il grado di liquidità di queste imprese.
Originalità della ricerca. Nella letteratura sulle imprese ad alta crescita non ci sono studi dedicati all’approfondimento dei fattori determinanti della crescita delle imprese con obiettivi sociali, come, ad esempio, le cooperative sociali. Questo studio si propone l’obiettivo di fornire nuovi spunti di ricerca sulle imprese ad alta crescita.
