Motorized Security in Dark Times : Jurisprudence and Decree-Laws on Urban Security

Abstract

This contribution aims to highlight the continued relevance of security, notwithstanding the crisis of its object already identified by legal scholarship at the end of the last century. Urban security has progressively emerged as an all-encompassing, polysemic and conceptually voracious notion, capable of absorbing heterogeneous regulatory objectives.

In order to move beyond the problem of a purely formal definition and to grasp the substantive meaning of a field of regulation whose object, from multiple perspectives, determines its very content, this article draws on legal theory to reconstruct the theoretical and criminal policy premises that associate urban security with a specific ideal order.
