Abstract
This essay offers a reflection on the meaning of “saying/doing the law” in the 21st century, identifying four epistemologically significant “turning points”: the central role of constitutional principles in interpreting individual cases, the growing influence of supranational law, the encounter with multiculturalism, and the evolution of the fight against the mafia and organized crime. The author highlights a possible fracture between the temporal dimension of justice and the urgency of the postmodern present. A reform of the professional training of legal practitioners—judges, lawyers, and court staff—is advocated, especially in light of scientific and technological transformations and the use of AI.
