Abstract
This paper offers a reflection on the importance of financial education programs for entrepreneurs and professionals. The analysis is based on an assessment test administered to 67 participants—comprising entrepreneurs and bank employees—within a course organized by the University of Urbino Carlo Bo. The questionnaire, consisting of 23 questions focused on financial and business literacy topics and on some additional information on the structural characteristics of the firms and entrepreneurs, was administered both before and after the course. The results show an overall improvement in financial and business knowledge, particularly in relation to risk management, financial statement analysis, and sustainability principles. Although differences emerge among firms based on sector and size, and owner characteristics such as gender and educational level, the experience highlights the educational value and strategic relevance of financial literacy for the conscious development of businesses.
