Abstract

This study examines the professional profiles and training requirements of Italian language teachers in Uzbekistan through the Delphi method. In response to the need for a methodological transition, the research engaged a panel of Uzbek academic experts to evaluate current curricular and methodological challenges. The results demonstrate a consistent adoption of the communicative approach; however, they highlight significant gaps in the integration of educational technology and Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP). Strengthening these areas is vital to enhancing the relevance of Italian studies, particularly for developing specialised professionals in the tourism sector. Furthermore, the paper posits that cultivating action-research skills is essential for modernising the field. Equipping teachers with these reflective tools enables them to critically assess their instructional practices and deploy targeted strategies to enhance Italian language acquisition within the specifics of the local context.
