Abstract
As a result of the “Stati generali della salute e della sicurezza sul lavoro” held at the Chamber of Deputies in the autumn of 2024, the article critically illustrates the (few) provisions that Legislative Decree no. 81 of 2008 devotes to agricultural labour safety and the rules for simplifying training and health surveillance of seasonal workers in the agricultural sector; of the latter, it appreciates the attempt to enhance the system of bilateral organizations to obviate the difficulty of requiring - often small - agricultural entrepreneurs to bear the burden of full training and health surveillance for workers destined to work for them sometimes only for a few days. The article goes on to illustrate the lights and shadows of the system of calls for tenders for the financing of safety measures (machinery modernisation) for agricultural work and the EU rules on social conditionality. The appendix contains INAIL data on the accident phenomenon in agricultural work.
