Abstract

This special issue aims at examining some of the alternative sources of financing adopted by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) both in the Italian and international context in recent years. Although bank credit is still the main and predominant financing system for the growth and development of SMEs, new players and financial instruments are becoming more and more relevant in financial markets. These operators can offer a variety of sources of funding that may complement the diversified financial needs of firms in their development paths, both in terms of demand and supply of financial products and services.
