Abstract
During the 15th century, a broad debate developed on the nature and meaning of mystical theology, in which Nicholas of Cusa (1401-1464) took part with one of his most widely read writings, De visione dei. In a first paragraph, the essay reconstructs the main themes of the debate on mysticism and then provides an analysis and interpretation of the Treatise on the Vision of God that seek to highlight the distinctiveness of Cusanus’ philosophical thought.
