Abstract
Upcoming reforms of civil justice in Italy aim at accelerating dispute resolution and reducing judicial backlog. The main features include: postponement of the first hearing until after expiry of the deadlines for party replies to introductory briefs; further encouragement of alternative dispute resolution; general availability of provisional remedies, regardless of urgency, with no need of further action on the merits; disposability of appeals on the merits at the hearings for stay of enforcement; substitution of exchange of written briefs for oral hearings even after the pandemics
