Abstract

André Gorz was one of the first critics of the most recent stage of capitalism known as post-fordism. In some books from the years 80 and 90 he analyzed especially the transformations of work in this stage because of the new technological revolution which gave rise to a reduction of work time, and showed the possibilities of liberation that such reduction opens if it can set time free for activities turned to persons development. By this way post-fordism can be the new basis for a socialist society as Marx imagined it, free from alienation under the rules of political economy. This article outlines Gorz’s analysis and political proposals.
