La valutazione multidisciplinare dell’infortunio lavorativo da sostanze chimiche: un punto di vista medico legale

Abstract

The present work aims to provide an indication of a medical-legal approach to cases of lethal professional accidents involving chemical substances, favoring the perspective of multidisciplinarity. Starting from a definition of an occupational accident according to medical-legal criteria, a forensic approach will then be developed to evaluate the accident itself, taking into account the specific peculiarities of occupational contact with the chemical substance. The evaluation of this particularly challenging case, in fact, can only take place through the integration of the skills of other disciplines (toxicology, general pathology, pathological anatomy and occupational medicine), proceeding with a method that allows for an overall and methodical technical evaluation. Furthermore, the foundations will be laid for a technical examination of the cases covered, indicating the peculiarities in the field of judicial inspection, collection and conservation of samples, useful laboratory investigations and the essential contents of technical consultancy in the field of fatal accidents at work.
