Abstract

The paper analyses two patterns of organizing safety in companies, ruled by the Decree law n. 81/2008, the monodatoriale and the multidatoriale ones. The former centralizes managerial safety decisions on one role, the latter decentralizes managerial safety decisions on several Datori di lavoro per several organizational units. Two patterns are analyzed into the organizational perspective in their weak and strong points and costs and benefits. The thesis supported by the author is that it does not exist the excellent pattern between the two ones. The choice must be contingent according to the organizational form of the company and the complexity of its business not necessary linked with the dimension The paper introduces the theory of the High Reliabily Organizations (HRO) that provides interesting actions of organizational design to qualify and to improve the safety performance of the multidatoriale pattern to cope with safety risks.
