Abstract

During the course of Covid-19 pandemic, we have witnessed an increasingly heated debate on the meaning, legitimacy and value of the containment measures adopted in the different countries of the world to deal with the growth of infections and the increase in deaths. A debate that has crossed numerous disciplinary fields, including, from the start, philosophy.

This text examines some of the central themes of the philosophical debate relating to the pandemic question – freedom, death, the individual, the State, law, science, biopolitics, power – contending itself with the arguments of cultural figures most committed to contesting restrictive measures. Paying particular attention to Giorgio Agamben's theses, the following essay shows the logical fallacy of the narrative paradigms that are at the basis of the philosophicaldisagreement, thus revealing the false consciousness, the particularist and conservative substrate, hidden under a rebellious guise.

Freedom; Power; Death; Biopolitics; Science; Conspiracy Thinking.
