Scope of the Journal

HONOS. Contesti per la storia delle istituzioni del Mediterraneo antico is a scholarly journal for the academic sectors of Archaeology (10/ARCH-01), Pre-Roman Civilizations of Italy and Etruscology (ARCH-01/C), Roman Law and the Foundations of European Law (12/GIUR-15), Numismatics (ARCH-01/B), Papyrology (FICP-01/C), and Ancient History (10/STAN-01). It sets out to be the first periodical at an international level exclusively devoted to the history of antiquities and institutions of the Greek, Pre-Roman, and Roman world, in a broad and interdisciplinary sense, encompassing history, epigraphy, law, and archaeology.

The journal welcomes submissions of articles written in Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, and Latin, focusing on any institutional and administrative aspect of the classical world and its implications from a historical, juridical, political, economic, social, and material perspective, with particular attention to the Mediterranean geographical context. The journal is published once a year, in Open Access mode under a Creative Commons licence (CC-by 4.0\) and without restrictions or an ‘embargo’ period.

Articles published in HONOS undergo a peer review process.

 

Open Access Policies

The journal provides open access to its content, based on the principle that making research freely available to the public enhances the global exchange of knowledge.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

No payment is required from authors for the publication of articles: both peer review and publication are entirely free of charge.
