Abstract
The contribution has the task to sketch the diplomatic activity between Rome and Persia during the war moved by Shapur II against Constance II, that is to say from the peace of Nisibis (298/299) to Julian's campaign, that ended with the treaty signed by Jovian (363): the Eastern frontier, despite an endemic state of fighting, results a place of exchange, characterized by the continuous passage of persons, good, and even ideas, where the diplomacy represented an undeniable instrument of mutual international relations.
