Abstract
This paper examines the phenomenon of Sicilian medievalisms, focusing in particular on the political and cultural use of the Norman Age by the Sicilian monarchies between the 17th and 18th centuries. The Norman period in Sicily was reinterpreted first by the Habsburgs and the Savoys, before becoming central to the cultural politics of the Bourbons of Sicily and the Sicilian revolutionaries of 1848.
