Abstract

This study examined the effect of leadership styles on employees’ performance in the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. It specifically examined the effect of leadership styles - transformational, transactional and democratic dimensions of leadership styles on employees’ performance. A survey research design was used, with one thousand seven hundred and twenty-seven (1,727) medical staff from twenty-nine (29) departments making up the study's population. A sample size of three hundred and fourteen (314) was estimated and selected via a convenient sampling technique. The information was gathered from the respondents using a structured questionnaire. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics and covariance base structural equation modelling (CB-SEM). The findings showed that transformational, transactional, and democratic leadership styles all had a significant impact on employee performance, according to the findings.

Shodiya, Olayinka Abideen is currently a Ph.D student at Lagos State University, Lagos state, Nigeria. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Business and Finance, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He teaches Production and Operation Management, Comparative Management, Business Finance, Research Methodology, Analysis for Business Decision and Managerial Economics. His areas of research interests are Inventory Control and Management, Supply Chain Management, Business to Business Relationship and Organisational behavior.

Olajide Alade Raji , Crescent University, Abeokuta, Nigeria

Olajide Alade Raji is currently a senior Lecturer in the department of Business and Finance, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He teaches Practice of Banking, Bank lending and regulation, corporate finance, investment analysis and portfolio management and investment banking, comparative banking, international finance.

Jolaosho, Surajudeen Olawale is a Ph.D candidate in Agribusiness and Finance at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria and a Lecturer I in Business and Finance Department at Crescent University, Abeokuta. He teaches investment Banking, business policy and strategy, Bank lending and Credit administration, Banking laws and Regulations, Business Economics and introduction to finance.
